Someone from the appliance desk walks the floor with you instead of handing you a catalog. The order is usually the same: the pieces you came to see, then the ones your kitchen plan turns out to need, then the questions that decide the job. How much room the opening actually leaves. What the venting run will realistically take. How much electrical the layout has to give up.

What stands on the floor changes through the year as new pieces arrive. If you are driving in for one particular unit, name it when you write, and the desk can tell you whether it is there that week before you spend a morning on the road.

The useful visits start with paper. Cabinet elevations, the width of the opening, the panel specifications, and a photograph showing where the gas line and the outlets come through the wall. If the cabinetry is already drawn, bring those drawings too: the reveal around a panel front is decided there, not at the appliance.

None of it has to be final. Half the value of coming in early is finding out which dimension is about to become an expensive problem while it is still a line on a drawing rather than a wall someone has already built.
