Washers and Dryers in Roseville and Sacramento
Most laundry decisions come down to four questions: how the washer loads, whether the pair sits side by side or stacked, how the dryer heats, and how much room the space gives you. This page walks through each one, shows models to compare on our storefront, and points to the guides that go deeper.
Front-load, top-load, stacked or all-in-one
A front-load washer opens at the front and tumbles clothes through a shallow pool of water. It can sit beside its dryer or, when the maker lists the pair as stackable, under it with the maker's stacking kit. A top-load washer opens at the top, with either a center agitator or a low-profile impeller, and, as a separate machine, sits beside its dryer.
A laundry center is one stacked appliance, washer below and dryer above, built and sold as a single unit. An all-in-one washer dryer washes and dries in the same drum, so there is no second machine to place.
Our guides go further: front load vs top load washers compared, planning a stacked washer and dryer and how an all-in-one combo works.

Laundry brands on our storefront
The laundry lines on our storefront include LG, Samsung, Whirlpool and Miele. Each brand page covers what the maker builds; the storefront lists the current models.
Gas, electric or heat-pump drying
A gas dryer needs a gas line and a vent to the outside. A vented electric dryer needs a vent and, for most full-size models, a 240-volt circuit. A heat-pump dryer recirculates its own air, condenses the moisture out and does not vent outdoors, which is why it suits closets and condos. Read our heat pump dryer guide before you choose one.
Measuring for a washer and dryer
- Width. Measure the opening at the floor and again at the height of the machine tops.
- Depth with the door open. A front-load door swings out into the room; measure to the nearest wall or cabinet with the door open.
- Height for a stacked pair. Measure floor to ceiling and to any shelf, and leave room to reach the controls.
- Hookups. Note where the vent, the water supply, the drain and the outlet or gas line sit.
Write the numbers down and bring them with you. The maker's installation instructions list the space each model needs around it, and our team reads them against your space.

Frequently asked questions
Can any front-load washer and dryer be stacked?
Not every pair. Stacking needs a washer and dryer the maker lists as stackable together, and the maker's stacking kit for that pair. Check the installation instructions for the exact models.
Do I need a 240-volt outlet for an electric dryer?
Most full-size vented electric dryers call for a 240-volt circuit. Some heat-pump dryers and all-in-one units are built for a standard 120-volt outlet. The spec sheet for the model states which one it needs.
What is the difference between a laundry center and a stacked pair?
A laundry center is one appliance with the washer and dryer built into a single frame. A stacked pair is two separate machines joined with a stacking kit.
Do you deliver and install washers and dryers?
