Founded near Paris in 1908, La Cornue still assembles its ranges to order, with each one built and finished by a single craftsperson before it leaves the workshop.
What La Cornue makes
La Cornue builds ranges as the heart of the kitchen. The made-to-order Chateau line is configured piece by piece, with a choice of widths, oven counts, cooktop layouts, colors, and trim in brass, nickel, or copper, so no two are quite alike. The CornuFe line offers the same French look in freestanding ranges sized for standard cabinet openings, an entry into the brand that arrives ready to install. Cooktops mix gas, induction, and electric elements, and some models add a plancha or French top. La Cornue also builds matching hoods, wall ovens, and cabinetry modules that carry the same enamel and metal finishes across a room. Where most ranges are mass-produced, these are assembled and enamel-finished by hand, which is why lead times run long and each unit is registered to its maker.

What the range does differently
The defining feature is the vaulted oven. Instead of a flat-topped box, La Cornue gives the oven an arched, vaulted ceiling that guides heated air in a circular path around the food, so roasts and baked goods cook evenly on all sides without a fan forcing the air. Heavy cast and enameled construction stores heat and releases it gently, holding a steady temperature once the oven is up to heat. The hand-finishing is part of the engineering as much as the look: enamel is fired onto the steel, and brass or nickel trim is fitted by hand. Buyers choose La Cornue for that combination of a distinctive oven design and a range built and finished one at a time rather than off a production line.
