Recognized for the star-shaped burner it patented, Thermador is a brand of BSH Home Appliances. It builds ranges, induction cooktops, wall ovens, refrigeration columns, dishwashers, and ventilation, for cooks who want fine control at the low end of the flame.

Thermador spans cooking and refrigeration. Its ranges come in gas and dual-fuel with 30 to 60-inch widths, and Masterpiece and Professional cooktops offer the gas Star burner, the Freedom Induction surface, or electric. On the cold side, Freedom columns cover refrigerator, freezer, and wine in widths that mix and match into a run, with panel-ready fronts for integrated kitchens. The Star burner and Freedom Induction

The engineering point buyers reach for is the Star burner. A conventional round burner sends flame out in a ring, leaving hot and cool spots; the Star burner uses a star-shaped, multi-point flame that spreads heat across more of the pan base for more even cooking and less scorching at the edges. It also opens a wider control range, with an ExtraLow setting that cycles the flame down to a gentle simmer for melting and holding without scorching. On the induction side, the Freedom Induction cooktop reads the full glass surface as one cooking zone, so pans can be placed anywhere and moved without lining up on printed rings. Thermador ranges come in 30, 36, 48, and 60-inch widths, and the 60-inch is a Pro, so settle the width before the cabinets. Gas and dual fuel need a gas line run by a licensed fitter, and the Freedom Induction cooktop and induction ranges need the electrical supply on the model's spec sheet. Pair the cooking surface with a hood: Thermador offers ventilation, and the spacing between surface and hood is in the installation guide. Freedom refrigeration comes panel ready or in stainless, from 18 to 48 inches, so decide on a front early. Who makes Thermador? Is it owned by Bosch?

Thermador is a brand of BSH Home Appliances Corporation, based in Irvine, California, the North American arm of BSH Hausgeräte GmbH of Munich. BSH has been wholly owned by the Bosch Group since January 2015 and sells Bosch, Thermador, and Gaggenau in North America. Thermador and Bosch appliances come from the same parent company under separate brands.

Where is Thermador made?

Thermador's parent, BSH, says it produces in factories across Europe, North America, Africa, and Asia, and it runs the North American business from Irvine, California. If the origin of a specific model matters to you, ask the Roseville team to look it up for that model.
