U-Line makes undercounter refrigeration and ice for the spaces beyond the main kitchen: wine refrigerators, beverage centers, refrigerators, drawers, and ice machines in clear, crescent, and nugget styles. Henry Uihlein Sr. founded U-Line in 1962 and developed what the company says was the first undercounter residential ice maker.

U-Line lines and collections

U-Line sorts its refrigeration into collections, as its site lists them:

  • Seamless. Beverage centers, refrigerators, and wine refrigerators in 15, 18, and 24-inch widths, and a 24-inch refrigerated drawer model U-Line marks as coming soon. U-Line describes an adjustable panel-ready grille that lines up with the cabinetry for a continuous toe-kick, and a panel-ready door you finish with your own panel and hardware.
  • Home. Refrigerators, beverage centers, wine refrigerators, and drawers in 15 and 24-inch widths, in stainless steel or panel-ready. U-Line lists six interior lighting colors and a 3-in-1 convertible shelf.
  • 5 Class. Beverage centers, refrigerators, and wine refrigerators in 15, 18, and 24-inch widths, including 24-inch dual-zone models.
  • 3000 Series. U-Line lists a 36-inch dual-zone wine refrigerator here.
  • 1 Class. The collection that holds the 15-inch clear ice machine.
  • Outdoor and Marine. Outdoor refrigerators, refrigerator drawers, and 15-inch crescent, clear, and nugget ice machines; a separate Marine series.
  • Two more groupings. U-Line lists a collection it calls ADA Height Compliant and another for Global 230V.

Four kinds of ice

U-Line lists four ice types: crescent, clear, craft clear, and nugget. U-Line says its clear machines freeze the water in layers and discard impurities, and it gives its 15-inch 1 Class clear machine an ice-fullness setting. It describes craft clear as large, slow-melting cubes for fine spirits, and says its nugget machines use an auger to compact ice shavings. U-Line also separates ice makers, which fill a bucket, from ice machines, which it says require a drain.

Wine Captain and wine refrigerators

U-Line's single-zone and dual-zone wine refrigerators carry its Wine Captain name. The Seamless 24-inch dual-zone model (URWD424) is listed with temperature set from 34 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit in each zone, Home lists a 24-inch dual-zone model, and U-Line lists a 36-inch dual-zone model in its 3000 Series.

Who U-Line suits

U-Line suits a bar, butler's pantry, pool house, or kitchen run that needs wine, drinks, or ice close to hand. The choice of width and door is the point: 15, 18, and 24 inches, panel-ready or stainless steel. Bring the cabinet opening and tell the Roseville team whether the unit goes indoors or outdoors and, for ice, where the water can drain. A licensed plumber connects the water.
