Vent-A-Hood
Vent-A-Hood builds range hoods around its Magic Lung blower, a centrifugal system that spins grease out of the air without the mesh or baffle filters most hoods rely on.
What Vent-A-Hood makes
Vent-A-Hood builds kitchen range hoods, and it has built them around one blower system for decades. The catalog covers wall-mounted chimney hoods, ceiling-mounted island hoods, under-cabinet models, and liner inserts that fit inside custom cabinetry, in stainless and a range of finishes and profiles, from plain canopies to more decorative shapes. Sizes and airflow ratings run to match everything from a standard cooktop to a wide pro range, and many hoods use two blower units side by side for wider cooktops. Lighting sits under the canopy to light the cooking surface, and controls run the blower through multiple speeds. The company builds its hoods in the United States. What runs through the whole line is the Magic Lung blower design rather than the conventional filter-and-fan setup, which shapes how the hoods clean the air and how they are cleaned. The line covers the ventilation function across kitchen layouts.
The Magic Lung blower
The distinguishing feature is the Magic Lung, a centrifugal blower that separates grease from the air by spinning it. Instead of pulling air through mesh or baffle filters that clog and need frequent cleaning, the Magic Lung whirls the rising air so the grease is flung outward and collects in the blower housing, while the cleaned air passes through to the duct. That means there are no filters sitting in the airflow to load up and restrict it, so the hood keeps its airflow steady over time, and cleaning is a matter of wiping the blower housing rather than scrubbing filters. The design also tends to run quieter than a filter hood at a given airflow because the air is not forced through a restrictive screen. Wider cooktops use dual blowers for more capture. The filterless system is the reason the brand is known within ventilation.
